Bio - Phil Bowden

Jazz bassist Phil Bowden has performed and toured with some great jazz artists, including guitarists George Benson & Cal Collins, saxophonists Greg Abate, Norris Turney & Jim Snydero, steel drummer Otello Molineaux, trumpeters Terell Stafford, Tim Hagens & Tom Kirkpatrick and singer Kathy Wade.  

Phil started his music training on electric bass at age 12 and studied privately at the Preparatory Department at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.  His instructors included Doug Richeson, Lynn Seaton and Rick Vizachero.  His first band was "The Determinations" from April 1968 - April 1973 and then toured with several show groups.

Phil Bowden was Greg Abate's "bassist of choice" when they performed together in the 12 piece jazz ensemble we arranged for the 1st annual Cincinnati Elementary Music Festival at College Hill Fundamental Academy on Saturday, March 12, 2011.
